Design Analysis Engineer
Position Description
RMT is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Engineering Design Group as a Design Analysis Engineer. Interacting with the design, manufacturing and project management departments, the successful candidate will participate in design review meetings to brainstorm ideas, identify/mitigate areas of risk and identify cost reduction opportunities. Further responsibilities include:
- Conduct static, dynamic and frequency response FEA of large moving structures. Design simulation.
- Validate various aspects of design and component sizing, as assigned by the Engineering Manager
- Provide cost effective solutions and/or recommendations for improved product quality and reliability
- Investigate component failures and conduct failure mode analysis
- Develop standard mathematical models and other types of standard analysis templates
- Assist with design and other production related tasks, on an as needed basis
- Cross check drawing packages for accuracy prior to release
- Generate technical reports and initiate ECR's when necessary
Occasional travel may be required.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken (must be able to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively)
- 5-10 years machine design and design analysis experience
- Strong analytical ability – structural analysis, static & dynamic analysis, frequency response, life-cycle analysis of large moving structures.
- Familiar with various types of materials, properties and usage
- Proficient in both metric and imperial systems of measurement, proficient in GD&T
- Must be proficient in:
- FEA software (preferably 3G, Algor or Ansys)
- Inventor 2009 and AutoDesk Vault
- MathCAD
- MS Office
