RMT Robotics Delivers Lights-Out Order Picking

November 20, 2006

It's fresh thinking that's leading the charge towards "lean warehousing" and lights-out distribution worldwide.

Built on the foundation of robotic gantry technology, RMT systems employ large and fast robots to receive random product from manufacturing, sort and temporarily stage the product under the gantry, then pick and deploy product to the dock in trailer loading sequence. The inventory management system identifies and tracks 100 percent of the product, providing real-time information on demand.

"The result of using RMT automation systems is a dramatic reduction in the number of times product is handled between manufacturing and shipping," said Bill Torrens, Director of Sales & Marketing. "RMT customers realize the benefits immediately through dramatic headcount reduction, improved customer fill rates, faster, more accurate deliveries and a reduction of on-hand inventory."

It's a major productivity advantage, and the reason Goodyear selected RMT Robotics for its North American Supply Chain Team. Today, RMT's proprietary technology is helping Goodyear to replace manual processes that were once thought to be too complex to automate.

Learn more about the productivity gains RMT customers are enjoying, and see how this revolutionary technology has already transformed warehouse distribution for one company by reading our Goodyear Case Study "Lean Logistics: Goodyear's Automated Warehouse Puts Customers on Top," featured in our newsletter Stacked.
