Productivity Advantages of RMT's Gantry Embraced at ProMat 2007

February 13, 2007

A growing awareness of the unmatched flexibility and performance of RMT Robotics' gantry-based automation solutions resulted in unprecedented interest at ProMat 2007 in Chicago, Illinois.

"Everyone gets it now," said Derek Rickard, Distribution Systems Manager at RMT Robotics. "In the past, some people weren't quite aware of what they were looking at. But now, with a modernization in thinking around the need to replace manual processes and get fully automated, there's a recognition that our gantries make perfect sense."

With its flexible work envelope that can be adapted to any space, and an ability to perform concurrent pick and palletizing tasks in any high-SKU environment, RMT's gantry is an ideal work-in-process solution. Serving as a large buffer storage device, the gantry offers the advantages of short-term staging for 'limited life' product that is subsequently shipped.

"We're certainly getting a lot of interest from the food and beverage industry," said Rickard. In particular, medium-sized facilities that pick from two hundred or more SKUs at a time are coming around to the realization that they can now fully automate and achieve the same kind of performance and payback from which their larger competitors are benefiting.

With more than 25 years of materials handling expertise in strategic automation planning and supply chain execution, RMT Robotics is recognized as a leading provider of automated solutions worldwide. “We're committed to a 'one source, one responsibility' relationship with our clients,” said Rickard.
